Scents of Umbria

After a healthy breakfast you are ready to start with the visit to the historical center of Perugia. Meeting with your guide for the walking tour of the international and vibrant capital city of Umbria! Lunch in a local restaurant offering typical traditional Perugia cuisine. In the afternoon chocolate experience in Perugia chocolate museum where you will learn about the history of the Bacio.

Today you will experience the magnificent colours of Umbria in the area of Sagrantino Wine Road. This special grape has a peculiarity: in autumn its leaves turns into red, pink, orange, carmine and rust! It is an incredible show that attracts fotographers, hikers and wine lovers. First you will visit Montefalco, the balcony of Umbria, including the church-museum of Saint Francis where sumptuous frescos of master Benozzo Gossoli are preserved. Finally, a nice walk in the vineyards and a surf into the real taste of this precious wine, the Sagrantino. Visit to a traditional wine estate for a lunch including all local delicacies: olive oil, cheese, sausages, Norcia ham, lentils and wine! Second stop will be in Bevagna to visit to the amazing Borgo, wine town since roman age. Visit to the medieval craft workshops for a real dip into medieval and renaissance time.

Umbria is also the land of black truffles. Today you will  have a wonderful experience: the truffle hunt on the glens of the Apennines with dogs. The truffle master will take you on moores and wood for a short and easy walk where you will breath the exciting atmosphere of digging out truffles. Than, back to the landhouse, you will learn how to clean them and cook for your delicious lunch. In the afternoon stop in Assisi for visiting the cathedral of Saint Francis where you will also have the chance of meeting a real friar who will tell you about the life of the monastic order founded by St. Francis and about living in a world famous monastery.

A new day for new discoveries. First stop will be in Gubbio for visiting the historical center of the beautiful medieval town.  Gubbio is world famous also for the traditional Ceri race that take place on may 15th every year. After the visit of the town, departure to Frasassi to visit the biggest and most important Caves of Europe. Guided tour with your local guide.

Today you will visit one of the most iconic cities of our land, Orvieto. Located on a steep tuff cliff was founded by etruscan and preserves one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Italy. Here you will enjoy a nice lunch in a restaurant carved in the stone. It is really a vibrant place to enjoy the special atmosphere of the city.

Deruta is a small nice town that is world popular for ceramics production and is one of the most important ceramic districts of Italy. Visit to a ceramic workshop with a painter and ceramist. Departure around midday to the airport. Lunch at leisure.
